Support during changing times

atr-icons-banner

Since the emergence of COVID-19 (coronavirus), teachers and school leaders have been quick to adapt and innovate in the many ways they provide education for students across Australia. As part of its Australian Teacher Response initiative, AITSL has developed resources to help support teachers and school leaders during these changing times.

Spotlight: The role of school leadership in challenging times

The COVID-19 pandemic is unlikely to be the last crisis we will face in our lifetime, and it’s not the first time that school leaders have been called upon to lead through times of ambiguity. Challenges faced by school leaders have ranged from rebuilding after environmental disasters through to supporting communities through economic, social and emotional devastation. This special-edition Spotlight examines the evidence base of leadership required during challenging times, examines the practices of successful leadership through uncertainty and highlights learnings from previous crises.

Spotlight: What works in online/distance teaching and learning?

The challenges posed by COVID-19 mean many teachers in Australia and overseas are looking for the best ways to continue to support student learning outside the traditional school or early childhood setting. This special-edition Spotlight identifies best practice evidence to guide teachers on setting up online learning, and advice teachers can share with parents and carers.

Teacher Resource Hub

Our Teacher Resource Hub contains curated online resources to support teachers during the current changing times. The collection includes newly created resources such as insights from expert educators on key topics. Whether you’re teaching by distance, in your normal learning environment, or delivering blended learning, these resources provide support during lockdowns as well as the transition post-lockdown.

Facebook Group

Our dedicated Facebook group provides a platform for teachers and school leaders to ask questions, share what works (and what doesn’t) and provide support to each other. While we won’t know all the answers to the challenges arising in the current environment, there is a good chance another teacher will and can share their expertise and knowledge. Join the community and share your tips and ideas.
